Effect of cAMP and cGMP on Connexin43 Expression in Isolated Human and Bovine Ciliary Epithelium

The aim of the study was to assess distribution connexin43 (Cx43) and connexin40 (Cx40) in human bovine ciliary bodies. effect second messengers cAMP cyclic cGMP on Cx43 protein expression also investigated. Enucleated eyes (remnant after corneal transplantation) were used. Tissue preparations anterior segments have proceeded for immunohistochemical staining with polyclonal antibodies Cx40. Isolated bodies incubated analog 8-Bromo-cAMP or 8-Bromo-cGMP, tissues then assessed by Western blot assay. Both bodies, strong immunoreactivity Cx43, but not Cx40, observed predominantly apical cytoplasmic portions pigment epithelial cells non-pigmented cells.
